Code p0174

The engine uses what are called Oor oxygen sensors in the exhaust stream to determine. If there are no intake leaks, the next step is to replace the air filter and clean the air flow meter. A lean condition will be created if there is too much air, and not enough fuel, in the air fuel ratio (AFR).


The ECM is designed with the capability of adjusting a lean condition back to normal, but only in small to mediocre amounts. On Ford some models dirty air filter, and dirty or faulty air flow sensor are the cause of the problem. The problem is with the rubber grommets in the intake manifold bolts they will crack and cause an intake leak.


Both of these code s reference a number that is given to you when you plug your truck into a OBDII scanner. This means there is incorrect ratio of air and fuel on the car’s engine system, specifically on. L equipped car, pick up, van or SUV. Both are lean codes meaning the Osensors were reading a lean condition. While the air passing through the MAF sensor is metered by the car computer, intake leaks or vacuum leaks are not known.


These sources of additional air increase the air to fuel mixture. A quick way to detect a leak is. Basically this means that an oxygen sensor in bank has detected a lean condition (too much oxygen in the exhaust).

Flex fuel engine would throw these codes every time I ran E85. Engine running well except for howling noise comes from the air intake area. Howling has happened in the past but only during winter temps but has always disappeared when the engine warms up. Many of the newer vehicles have an overrev limiter to prevent you from overrevving the engine in Park or Neutral. Dealer said with the after market cold air intake (Halitech) and stock MAF will usaully be the cause of these faults.
