Drilled slotted rotors

For performance driving, slotted rotors have become the preferred choice because cross drilled rotors are more prone to stress cracking under extreme use. Just take a look through the spokes on the wheel of any modern race car – there won’t be a drilled rotor in sight. This drilling process is commonly used on rotors installed on light to medium duty vehicles including high performance vehicles. The substantial improvement in braking you will feel and the warranty that is included with every performance drilled and slotted brake rotor, is worth the upgrade over stock replacement rotors. All drilled and slotted rotors (except for hub rotor assemblies) are silver zinc plated to resist rust.

With a direct OE fit and vane count, there are no special modifications needed on your car, truck or SUV. The drilled and slotted design is our most popular performance rotor for street and day track applications. Ultimately, vented disc are great for heat rejection. The drilled holes in the rotors will be prone to stress-cracking, The combination of the drilled and slotted pattern does work great with heavier vehicles, especially vehicles that will be towing heavy loads.

Best brakes product in USA. Crossed drilled rotors and slotted rotors (and rotors that are both slotted and drilled ) are designed to allow gases to escape that build up between the brake pad and brake rotor. This allows your brakes to run cooler and stop better. A drilled rotor has less metal content than a slotted rotor.

The holes in the rotor help to get rid of excess water in the rotor when driving in the rain. When less metal is used in the construction of a rotor, it has less stopping power than a rotor with more metal content in its construction. Featuring the same cutting-edge designs used on racecars, these slotted and drilled rotors turn your stock brakes into heat dissipating stopping machines.

Slotted rotors have more metal than a drilled rotor. Performance rotors are made from premium castings with the appropriate carbon content and balanced machining. Slots help to increase pad bite and improve air circulation. Slots clean and de-glaze pad surface for optimum pad coefficient of friction. The problem with regard to our question of drilled and slotted rotors is that those practices act to reduce the mass of the rotor, reducing the desired heat transfer.

Some rodders have correctly stated that the rotor surface area is increased by drilling or slotting, but the issue in heat transfer is mass, not surface area. In addition, a cross- drilled rotor now has more surface area, and thus cools down more quickly. Affordable performance upgrade brake kits for any type of driving.

Extreme tow and haul, extreme performance, and daily driving. Brake pads, rotors , etc in unique, easy-to-use auto parts catalog. StopTech drilled and slotted brake rotors are engineered to look good and perform at the same time! Performance brake kits, brake rotors , brake pads for your vehicle at wholesale prices. The drilled - slotted combination is a popular performance option for both daily street and track applications.

Sold in pairs, unless specified otherwise. Rotors are not a place where you gain braking performance, nor lose it. They are mostly just a cosmetic item.

To upgrade performance you get a little change with pads, but not that much. If you want a bigger change you need larger brakes and better calipers, which is very expensive. On the street, drilled rotors are ok, but can create noise.

The thing that kills drilled rotors is fast heating and cooling cycles over a wide temperature range. This is why no one uses them on race cars. The transfer layer on the rotors surface is typically invisible in all but extreme cases. This process gives you the confidence needed as a driver that you can handle whatever situation might come your way. Install Chromebrakes drilled and slotted nano coated rotors for a one of a kind look.

They tend to crack and so would not be reliable for street use. My original brakes went 138k miles. I replaced them with OEM grade pads and slotted rotors.

Those brakes only lasted about 35k miles.

Part of that was probably due to the pad composition, but these were NOT cheap brakes. StopTech Sport Rotors is the new name for one-piece performance upgrade rotors from StopTech. The kit is supplied with all the hardware needed for a proper installation.

Choose from EBC plain non drilled rotors or sport rotors in two choices – wide aperture GD Sport Rotors series for cooler running or newsuper silent Ultimax USR slotted rotor series. When used with higher friction EBC Redstuff, Greenstuff or Yellowstuff brake pads these rotors will deliver better brakes. That is an advantage of larger diameter rotors , along with the greater leverage of increased size. They drilled and slotted cast rotors provide a bol aggressive appearance which complement vehicles running open style wheels. Free Shipping on Brake Rotor Orders Over $50.

Increased braking performance. Silver zinc plated (except for hub rotor assemblies) to resist rust. Brembo Sport slotted brake rotors provide excellent stopping power in everyday traffic, as well as high performance street and track driving. Brembo Sport slotted brake rotors match the vehicle's Original Equipment rotor's dimensions and are fully compatible with its hubs, brake calipers and road wheels. The direction of the slots on the outside of the rotor do not dictate whether the rotor is a left or a right.

Drilled holes keep rotors up to 180° cooler.
